Katz 4 Keeps: Florida's Premier Not-For-Profit Rescue Facility for Felines
Katz 4 Keeps, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, was formally established in January 2008. The roots of the company, founded by Mary Boushie, trace to 2004.
The organization now has about 30 individuals who work with Mary in caring for the kittens, as well as a group of young people, the Love 'Em Up Bunch, who help socialize the kittens and cats by holding and playing with them. As of February, Katz 4 Keeps, Inc. has rescued and found homes for approximately 400+ kittens and mature cats.
Love of cats had always been a part of Mary's life, but once settled in Ponte Vedra, she was able to realize a dream to rescue abandoned and unwanted kittens and mature cats. Initially, Mary joined a community-based rescue group and became its foster mother for the kittens. As the need for her assistance was never ending, Mary created Mary's Rescues, negotiated a contract with a local veterinarian, and fostered kittens in her home.
As her reputation for rescuing kittens grew, she was able to expand the program to include boarding space at the clinic. From there, other women who love cats joined her rescues and Mary was able to rescue even more cats and kittens. |
